Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is something that almost everyone deals with at one point or another in their life as opposed to acute pain which lasts just a short while to alert us of a possible injury. Chronic pain can last for up to 12 months or longer depending of the severity of the injury. Lake Country Physical Therapy & Sportscare, PC specializes in ending that chronic pain using a variety of different hands-on therapeutic techniques.

Chronic pain can stem from a vast array of different injuries, whether it be from a back sprain, or another form of injury, and sometimes there is not even a known cause for one’s chronic pain. Sleep disturbances and a loss or drastic change in appetite can sometimes also be the reason behind chronic pain. Chronic pain can limit one’s movements, reflexes, strength, and stamina, and may even eventually lead to permanent disability.

One of the techniques Lake Country Physical Therapy & Sportscare, PC uses is Primal Reflex Release Techniques (PRRT). PRRT relieves musculoskeletal pain in just a matter of seconds and has been found effective in a large majority of the patients it has been tested on. PRRT can be successful if you are suffering from restricted motion, pain with or without motion, reduced spontaneity of motion, muscle tightness, stiffness, and/or tension. Relaxation techniques, exercise, biofeedback, behavioral modification, meditation, electrical stimulation, and self management are other ways we specialize in treating chronic pain.

Another effective form of relaxation techniques is altering your focus onto a different part of the body that is not the cause for your chronic pain. Doing this it displays just how powerful the mind can be as pain will subside by focusing your attention on a different part of the body.

As with anything that affects your physical performance in life, one of the best cures is exercise. Going for a jog, walking, stretching, even yoga can help control and minimize your chronic pain.

Living with chronic pain disrupts your lifestyle, your daily functions, changes your eating and sleeping habits, and how you function on a day-to-day basis. Lake Country Physical Therapy & Sports Care, PC is staffed with world-class physical therapists who will work with you and get you on the road to recovery.
